Our team at Worthington Energy Consultants, A Pilot Company, is looking to hire a Senior Business Development Manager to originate new business and nurture select client relationships. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of identifying and securing new business opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and driving energy innovation and sustainability on a national scale. This role requires the development and execution of sales strategies to deliver commodity and non-commodity products and services to Commercial and Industrial customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Drive new business growth by selling electricity, natural gas, and other energy solutions to large commercial and industrial customers.
  • Build critical mass within agreed timeframes in target regions.
  • Originate new business through organized prospecting and networking.
  • Proactively identify, develop, and close business that aligns with company objectives and revenue goals.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and competitive developments to anticipate market shifts and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Identify client needs for creative solutions beyond commodity supply, including energy and invoice audits, behind the meter solutions, bill-pay, water savings, demand response, and more.
  • Nurture and grow existing customer relationships.
  • Be the main point of contact for designated strategic accounts to maximize their potential and profitability.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities to increase growth with customers and prospects.
  • Attend conferences to foster relationships and gather intelligence on market trends and competitor activities.

 QUALIFICATIONS

The qualified candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in direct sales and consultative selling in the retail energy markets, with a thorough understanding of deregulated electricity, natural gas, and renewable energy markets. Other qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated success in negotiating and closing complex, high-value deals in deregulated energy markets
  • Intimate knowledge of deregulated electricity and natural gas markets, energy supply agreements, contract language, and product offerings.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales quotas.
  • Ability to quickly identify and qualify sales opportunities to build and maintain a pipeline for new business.
  • Ability to illustrate ROI to C-level decision-makers and interact with facilities managers and engineers.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time (US Only).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
