Role Description
We’re looking for a Director of Consulting – Energy and Water to lead the charge in building and expanding our client base, while mentoring the next generation of top-tier energy consultants. This role is ideal for a strategic, driven, and dynamic leader who thrives at the intersection of business development, client service, and team leadership.
As a Director, you’ll originate and manage high-value commercial and industrial consulting relationships. You’ll serve as an extension of your clients’ energy management offices, designing comprehensive procurement strategies and guiding them through key initiatives—like renewable energy adoption, demand response programs, utility bill auditing, and carbon credit procurement.
What You'll Do:
- Lead the development of new and renewal commercial and industrial consulting engagements.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, crafting and executing strategic energy and water initiatives tailored to their operational and financial goals.
- Deliver white-glove service across Pilot Energy’s suite of offerings, from market analytics to portfolio reporting.
- Stay on top of energy industry trends and regulatory developments to deliver proactive, insightful guidance.
- Manage and mentor a small team of junior consultants, driving development through coaching, training, and performance management.
Qualifications
- A Hunter-Farmer-Educator mindset—you love building relationships, cultivating long-term value, and teaching others.
- 7+ years of experience in deregulated energy, energy consulting, sustainability, or renewable energy.
- Deep industry knowledge in sectors such as industrial manufacturing, data centers, retail/grocery, healthcare, or higher education.
- Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to understand and optimize energy procurement budgets and portfolios.
- Familiarity with energy and water policy, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven leadership skills, self-direction, and a strong bias toward action.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
