The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) anticipates that in 2024, the United States will generate 14% more electricity from solar energy than hydropower, marking the first time annual solar generation surpasses hydropower.

Incentives like investment tax credits have spurred the growth of renewable generation capacity and the ongoing expansion of utility-scale and small-scale solar facilities.
